Staff Jeans Incentive

DENIM Fridays!!! Man oh man does this motivate me to make it through the week and do my best each day. It is quite the reward for me and shows appreciation for what we do each and every day.

At my last school we could wear jeans every Friday with our school t shirt. Plus we could wear jeans on “Pay Day” so that could possibly mean a day during the week plus a Friday depending on how the days on the calendar fell. Hip Hip Hooray!

At my current school we can wear jeans every Friday with a top displaying our school colors, but we have to pay $1 that goes to the social committee for parties, gifts , etc. Hooray!

Either way, jeans motivate me. I’m happier and engage more with the kids because I’m more comfortable. Most Friday’s you could find me at recess playing football with the boys and double dutch with the girls. Or in the classroom I often was found sitting on the floor teaching my students. I was happy. They were happy. We got to know one another better.

This simple incentive made me work harder throughout the week so that I could be rewarded on Friday. Something about comfort must release endorphins because I am ten times happier (or maybe it is just the fact that it is Friday!)

As a future principal-to-be I’ll ensure this is one of the rewards I implement. It’s cost effective and simple to offer…so why not?!

What motivates you the most to show up to work and do your best daily?

(hopefully you don’t say *paycheck*!)
