Hot Tip Tuesday- 11th Edition


Hot Tip Tuesday

Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post in case you didn’t catch it in your feed. (Want more? Time to get caught up:

  1. Roll up anchor charts. Place a titled sticky note across the top on the outside of each. Store in a trash bin.
  2. Group bathroom visits waste more time than allowing students to work and sending them out 1 by 1. Keep instruction first.
  3. Pay attention to students leading their learning. Step back to watch and cultivate their natural curiosity.
  4. Cut the narration when giving directions. Concise language is memorable.
  5. Sync all of your personal & professional appointments from your devices so that no matter where you are you don’t miss out.
  6. Create back pocket activities to infuse content into random downtime minutes throughout the instructional day.
  7. Create personal, flexible learning spaces on the floor using tape, carpet squares, hoola hoops, etc.
  8. Respecting student beliefs does not mean ignoring holidays in the classroom. Expose Ss to a variety of celebrations.
  9. Winter weather is approaching. Teach kiddos how to get cozy while learning. Create spaces and share materials to make learning appealing and welcoming.
  10. The way you start the day has a big impact on the way you end the day. Incorporate a high-energy, positive opener to instruction.
