Thrifty Thursday- 5th Edition
Thrifty Thursday
Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post incase you might have missed anything.
Time to get caught up:
- Write vocab words on math manipulatives = tangible word wall while Ss work!
-
Use 1 x 5 sticky notes labeled with Ss names for guided reading group plans- easy to change as Ss learn and grow!
-
Can’t afford the current edu craze of light boxes? Use a desk lamp and shine it on a whiteboard with your message!
-
Short pencil? Stick it into the end of a straw to elongate its function and make it easier to use!
-
No folders? Glue a paper bag lunch baggie into a notebook to help store loose materials
-
No time to schedule a guest reader for class? Use Storyline Online where famous people read your favorite books!
- No standing desks? Window sills, filing cabinets and countertops are great back up plans for flexible seating!
- Want to decorate your classroom for the holidays? Use green interlocking construction paper strips to form a tree
- Need a tub organizer on wheels? Snag a laundry hamper with wheels- same great storage, better price!
-
Under your email signature add a link to a classroom wish list so the community you communicate with can bless your class
(*note: these posts are sent out via BUFFER so they follow Twitter’s rules for word count and I had to get creative!)
Stay tuned for the next edition coming out in a few weeks!
