Thrifty Thursday- 14th Edition
Thrifty Thursday
Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post incase you might have missed anything.
Time to get caught up:
- Don’t have any more bulletin board borders left? Use painter or washi tape!
- Ration out your extra classroom supplies so that you have equal amounts available each month instead of running out before the year is over.
- Collect worn blank t-shirts from community members and use as a reward for students to work out math problems because who doesn’t love to write on clothing with a fun marker?!
- Collect empty paper towel rolls and use in a Literacy center as a counting syllable wand or gopher contraction smasher!
- Use thrown away scraps as items in a math center for students to measure the variety of angles in each piece
- Use old newspapers or handouts for words and phrases that students can use to practice handwriting and spelling.
- Hanging tiny plastic mirrors from the ceiling (purchased from any discount store) will reflect light and immediately brighten up a classroom!
- Lack of paper? Laminate index cards and have students respond to their exit ticket with a white board marker. Check their response and wipe it clean for tomorrow!
- Take donations from parents and community members for diaper boxes (they make perfect storage containers!)
- Ask for discarded flower and plant plastic holders from local nurseries and repurpose in the classroom with minor paint and personalization for material organization.
