Teacher of the Year Nominee
There are milestones a person looks forward to in their career. They symbolize growth, maturity, and the result of hard work. This year was a momentous occasion for many reasons, but being nominated for Teacher of the Year took the cake. In my mind, for my peers to think so highly of me to nominate me is a feeling I have never encountered before. Then, to read it in fine print made me flashback through my 7 years of teaching and smile at how far I have come. I tried my best, received feedback, applied it to the best of my ability and grew, grew, and grew. This growth enabled me to be a mentor to many first year teachers and collaborate with my peers to become better as a team than we could ever be individually. I am so honored to be thought of and touched to read their kind words.
In efforts to celebrate all the great teaching in our building we did not stop at having a Teacher of the Year and Teacher Assistant of the Year. We created a bulletin board to showcase all the talent that makes our students what they have become.
Thank you to all of my mentors, peers, administrative teams, and my students… you made this happen. Cheers to you!
What has been your milestone as a teacher?
