Remind 101

Remind 101 is a FREE fantastic tool for parents, students, and teachers. This product was introduced to me through one of my bloggy friends Erin Klein (in fact, I think she had a hand in developing it!). Anyways, I tried it for the first time this year and am totally hooked. Teachers, you gotta try this! Parents, you gotta suggest your child’s teacher try this!

Here goes:

Remind 101 utilizes technology to inform parents of last minute “reminders.” Get it?

1. Set up an account at Remind101.

2. You will receive a special phone number and pass code.

Here is mine:

Text @nq3 to (347) 826-3504 or Email [email protected]

Remind101 Inc., a safe way for teachers to text message or email students and parents.

Standard text message rates apply. Learn more at www.remind101.com

(Parents have the option of how they wish to be notified by texting your pass code to your special phone number or emailing your special account with the same code. Parents cannot text you back, so you will not get tied up in a back-forth conversation. Also, this protects your actual phone number or email account)

3. Remind 101 will compile a list of names and phone numbers of parents that followed the above directions. NO WORK FOR YOU! 🙂

4. Log in and send your message! (I have an app on my iphone that works perfectly!)

You can even set up all your reminders and post date them so it goes out automatically. What a great way to help us teachers stay organized without having to “remind” ourselves? I even added myself to my messages just so I could ensure the message went out. Check it out here:

See? This works great for the night before picture day, field trips, curriculum nights, open houses, seasonal plays, etc. I have received nothing but positive responses from parents for utilizing this reminding system. Who doesn’t need a reminder? If you need a visual tutorial, check this out!

I highly suggest this tool to keep parents and teachers on the same page with things going on in the classroom and school building. Go ahead and give it a try! (Feel free to  stop by their blog!)

If you tried it out, what did you think?

If you did not try it, what is your reason for holding back?

(Maybe something can be developed with your thoughts in mind!)

I am a parent who no longer need remind 101 from 2 teachers. How do I remove myself from receiving their text messages on my phone

      Hi Kicha!

I did some research. I hope this helps!

How do students or parents opt out of receiving messages?

Text message: To unsubscribe from all classes, simply reply with the word “stop”. If you are subscribed to multiple class and only want to unsubscribe from one write “unsubscribe @code” (with code being your class code)

Email: Reply to your teacher’s email with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject field to stop receiving notifications for that class.
