Motivation in ONE WORD
I thought I would participate in the #YOUREdustory Blogging Challenge from time to time. Each week there is a blog topic that educators write about and this week’s topic made me pause- that’s when you know, you gotta dive right in!
What is your “one word” that will inspire you in your classroom or school in 2016?
As an educator, instructional coach, consultant and edu-preneur I wasn’t sure which lens to view this question. But I do love goals, and being able to summarize them in ONE WORD could be… well, powerful.
After much pause, I decided to work backwards from goal ideas to goal phrases to goal words to my ONE WORD.
Hop on my cognitive train for a second…
Goal Ideas
- Create relevant, applicable content on Always A Lesson daily
- Partner with 5 schools to train and coach teachers of all skill levels
- Gain 1,000 new engaged followers on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, You Tube, Linked-In)
- Double profits from TeachersPayTeachers educational resources
- Solidify a podcast sponsorship with an educational product that would benefit my listeners
- Achieve 3 financial patrons from Patreon to cover podcasting costs
Goal Phrases
- Create relevant content
- Train and coach teachers
- Double profits
- Solidify sponsorship
- Achieve financial patrons
Goal Words
- Create
- Train
- Double

My ONE WORD
All of my goal ideas, phrases and words are about taking action. It requires concentrated effort on my part in order to achieve the specific goal. So, it only makes sense that my one word would be… ACTION .
I am going to write my one word on index cards and place them around my living and work environments as a reminder to take action daily. These reminders will motivate me to keep moving forward in small ways each day. I cannot wait until the close of 2016 to look back at all the action I took in fulfilling my goals!
With that said, I have been working very hard on a project that is going to bring some serious value to you. Stay tuned as I release some sneak peeks over the coming months. (How’s that for taking action?)
