Classroom Tour 2012-2013
Cheers to another great school year! Enjoy a tour of my classroom (a bit dark, sorry!)
WELCOME TO MY SCHOOL!
HALLWAY BULLETIN BOARDS
THE GIVING TREE BOARD
I stick this outside my door for any event where parents visit the classroom. I simply place items needed for the classroom on a post it and parents can take as they wish. This year, I included a QR code for parents to save my contact information into their phone. I also set up an account with REMIND 101 so I can send text alerts to parents updating them on school events and announcements.
BOOK SHELF W/ COMFY PILLOWS
We utilized Accelerated Reader (A.R.) last year and are converting to Fountas and Pinnell levels instead so the bookshelf is a mish-mosh waiting to be reorganized and leveled.
TEACHER DESK AREA
All of my past classes are framed and on display each year. It helps remind me why I do this each day and never forget the kids that helped mold me as a teacher!
TEACHING PLATFORM
This desk holds my daily necessities- teacher edition text books, student copies in M-F folders, and any other materials I may need for the week.
FRONT BOARD: SCHEDULE AND OBJECTIVES
The Common Core objectives were printed out for us. So each day we can find the strip and place a magnet on it and place under the correct heading. SO EASY! 🙂
CUTE WINDOW DECOR!
STUDENT GIFTS
Included: Welcome post card, third grade personalized pencil, bookworm bookmark, and delicious candy! I admit… I like to spoil my kiddies!
STUDENT CUBBIES
The larger cabinet (labeled w/ student number on a red apple) is for storing backpacks on hooks. The smaller cubby is for students to store lunch boxes, dictionary/thesaurus, etc.
MATERIALS “GRAND CENTRAL”
This table holds materials students may need throughout the school day. They turn in assignments here as well. The posters are strategically placed as a daily reminder of appropriate behaviors and encouraging words.
STUDENT DATA BOARD
This board is divided into two halves: Literacy and Math. The top section has student numbers on a post it. Student reading levels are based on the Fountas and Pinnell system and are recorded under the appropriate column. The orange letters in the middle distinguish the goal of being “On-Grade Level.” Students strive for this middle section and of course the right section. This is an interactive data board where students can set goals and chart their reading progress. The math section includes a poster that tracks multiplication fact accomplishment as well as a listing of Common Core objectives with our class proficiency percentage on a post-it underneath. This section is also ongoing data tracking done be students.
Well that is my classroom! I hope you enjoyed your virtual visit and stop by anytime! 🙂
Looks great! I love the QR code for parents to grab your info! How did you do that??
