Thrifty Thursday

Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post incase you might have missed anything.

Time to get caught up:

1. Save those empty water bottles! (Bathroom passes, science experiments, engagement batons, musical instruments, etc)
2. Discount stores like Dollar Tree and Goodwill have plenty of gently used-new items to enhance instruction!
3. Create student grouping cards by cutting out individual numbers in large print from newspapers and laminate them
4. Check your local home improvement store for free carpet remnants aka NEW classroom rug!
5. Used, worn, color drained patio umbrellas make for great classroom library nooks!
6. Faded/stained towels and blankets make for great reading carpets and flexible seating options once bleached
7. Check the art room for loose items no longer needed. They make great math manipulatives!
8. Ditch the microphone for a reader’s or writer’s showcase and use Burger King crowns!
9. Pool noodles are great for practicing the distribution property of multiplication on the classroom floor!
10.  Take some old pots & pans and create a music wall in your classroom for brain breaks. Pencil taps on metal release energy!
