Thrifty Thursday- 5th Edition

Thrifty Thursday

Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post incase you might have missed anything.

Time to get caught up:

  1. Write vocab words on math manipulatives = tangible word wall while Ss work!
  2. Use 1 x 5 sticky notes labeled with Ss names for guided reading group plans- easy to change as Ss learn and grow!
  3. Can’t afford the current edu craze of light boxes? Use a desk lamp and shine it on a whiteboard with your message!
  4. Short pencil? Stick it into the end of a straw to elongate its function and make it easier to use!
  5. No folders? Glue a paper bag lunch baggie into a notebook to help store loose materials
  6.  No time to schedule a guest reader for class? Use Storyline Online where famous people read your favorite books!
  7. No standing desks? Window sills, filing cabinets and countertops are great back up plans for flexible seating!
  8. Want to decorate your classroom for the holidays? Use green interlocking construction paper strips to form a tree
  9. Need a tub organizer on wheels? Snag a laundry hamper with wheels- same great storage, better price!
  10.  Under your email signature add a link to a classroom wish list so the community you communicate with can bless your class

(*note: these posts are sent out via BUFFER so they follow Twitter’s rules for word count and I had to get creative!)

Stay tuned for the next edition coming out in a few weeks!
