I am an educator because…

Slide1

It’s no secret that I absolutely love being an educator. I have shared my story numerous times and I realize it is rare for someone to know in early childhood what they wanted to be when they grew up and then never divert from that plan until it came to fruition. It was a dream as a kid to become a teacher and today it is still a dream to wake up every day as an educator.

I often ask future teachers why they want to become a teacher and I realized I don’t think I ever really shared my answer to my own question. In keeping with the educator theme, I am going to share my reasons for being an educator in objective form. Instead of the all-too-familiar phrase “Students Will Be Able To,” I will write my post as “I Will Be Able To” in a  ‘Top Ten’ list format.

I WILL BE ABLE TO:

10- Make the community I live in a better place

9- Model respectful and mature interactions with others

8- Exhibit moral character traits on a daily basis

7- Sympathize with life’s personal challenges

6- Assist in dreaming big dreams for one’s future

5- Give a voice to an often muted age

4- Challenge a fragile mind in a unique way

3- Consistently pour love and protection into a young life

2- Encourage children to persevere through hardship

1- Inspire every child to become their best self

Why are you (or want to be) an educator?
