Hot Tip Tuesday

Each week I bring to you helpful tips to become a more effective educator on the Always A Lesson fan page on Facebook. (Give it a quick like by clicking here!) I decided to start grouping my social media posts into a blog post in case you didn’t catch it in your feed. (Want more? Simply type in ‘Hot Tip Tuesday’ in the search bar on my blog to easily find past editions.)

Time to get caught up:

  1. Script instructions ahead of time and project to students. Empower a Ss to read and model them.
  2. Parents want to be heard so make time to listen.
  3. Revamp the read aloud = record your voice reading snippets, upload to google drive, Ss can listen on own time.
  4. Bring sight words to life-Write common vocabulary on Jenga cubes and allow students to play and learn!
  5. Plan what you want. Share expectations for what you want. Follow through with what you want.
  6. Use command strips to hang baskets on the walls of your classroom for easy to reach materials!
  7. Requiring your Ss to greet you upon arrival is the first step in helping Ss respect and honor others.
  8. Organize materials by subject. Then color coordinate subjects. Easy to locate and file away!
  9. Pair Ss by ability, interest level, gender, birthday, etc. Not every interaction should be based on performance.
  10. Require your Ss to do one Random Act of Kindness while at recess and/or lunch. Create the opportunity for change!

(*note: these posts are sent out via BUFFER so they follow Twitter’s rules for word count and I had to get creative!)
